Chapter 10: Phone Check

Remy sat at a table along with three other chicks enjoying a game of Poker. Her body may have been at the Poker table, but her mind was on Pauleena. Remy watched from the corner of her eye as Pauleena used the phone. Since Remy had been playing cards she noticed that Pauleena had been on the phone for at least an hour and a half and a few of the other inmates were beginning to whisper and complain about the long length of time Pauleena was on the phone for.

Remy had been Pauleena’ s cell mate going on four months now and still wasn’t able to get Pauleena to open up not even a little bit. Infiltrating Pauleena’s operations was a task that Remy was finally realizing wasn’t as easy as she thought it would be. She had to figure out a way to get on Pauleena’ s good side and not seem like she was up to something or trying to be sneaky.

The four moths of being locked up in federal prison was a mental strain on Remy. Four months was killing her and she couldn’t imagine how some people spent years and the rest of their lives in a place like this. Everything about Prison was fucked up, from the food, to the nasty correctional officers, to the nosey bitches watching your every move, to a motherfucking telling you what you can and can’t have, the entire situation was fucked up and after four months Remy was already sick of it.

“Yo this bitch been on the phone for wild long.” A chick that went by the name Erica huffed. “I mean damn what the fuck could a motherfucker talk about for hours every day? If she think her man ain’t gon go fuck other bitches cause she on the phone with him all day she bugging.” She spat.

“The phone right next to Pauleena is open.” Remy pointed out. “Why don’t you just go and use that one?” She asked trying to stop an unnecessary altercation from happening.

“That other phone is fucked up, that bitch Pauleena is on the good phone and she got five minutes before I go over there and snatch her motherfucking ass up off that phone.” Erica huffed as her foot began to tap involuntarily. Whoever Erica was trying to call nine times out of ten wasn’t going to answer, but that wasn’t the point. The truth was Erica didn’t even need to use the phone, she was just mad that Pauleena could use the phone whenever she felt like it and that alone pissed her off.

“What’s up with you and this phone shit?” Remy asked. “You don’t usually be sweating the jack like that.”

“Listen, I don’t be using the phone like that, but when need to get on that bitch oh trust and believe I’mma get on that bitch.” Erica said with much attitude.

Remy didn’t say another word she just sat back and waited to see how things would play out and from the looks of things they weren’t going to be good.
